Between November and April it's kind of a crapshoot. Lots of damp weather, but also lots of dry time. You never know. Best part of the year is mid August through late October.

That other route I wouldn't do any later than the beginning of October. It gets snowy up there in the mountains and the road closes. But there's plenty of other routes in different directions.

But most of the time is like today. It rained this morning, but it's just damp right now. By tomorrow it should be sunny for a day and dry. Then it'll rain again for a couple of days, or a week.

White Salmon is drier, but colder.

I usually take 21 out of Rincon, where I live, then when I get to Waynesboro I take 80 until I get to Wrens then 17 up to Elberton, then go into SC through Anderson, then Walhalla then into Clayton, from there I take 28 up through Franklin and usually stay at either Kick Stand Lodge or Ironhorse. About 326 miles, but the good roads start just north of Franklin NC

Curious how this turns out. I have the same problem. Corbin's facility is only 90 minutes from me. Way to hard. Had one on my first 2001 Triple and it sucked.
Those who say all things in moderation certainly never rode a Speed Triple.

    Laam Custom Seat

I put a Sargent on mine better than stock and has a nice underwear water resistant storage area. However, my ass hurts after 150 miles of riding.

I've heard that this seat maker does a good job. I believe that there is a review on the other site.

Six hours of riding in a day? I wish. Meaning, I wish I had the time.

It had a fly screen so I added a laminar lip windscreen to it. Gilles rearsets. Bar end mirrors and pazzo style levers. Added a centerstand and a rack for a Givi box. It came with the Arrow full low exhaust. Here is a picture of the cockpit with Garmin 660 on left, radar detector on right and in the middle is a SR10 bluetooth transmitter that gives me both GPS and radar into my SMH10 headset. I also have soft saddle bags for the extended touring.

I also have a Givi T491 quick release tank bag

Here are a couple of pictures of the seat on the bike. The bumps on the passenger portion is from leaving a tail bag full of crap on the seat for a few weeks. The seat is vinyl and I ride with a sheep skin on the front part so I don't need leather. I had him make it with two different kinds of material for a different look. I was trying to achieve the look of the Triumph low seat, which I bought to use while my stock seat was gone. Which was a couple of weeks, mainly because I am on the east coast and he is in CA. It only took him two days to do the seat. I have about 1,500 miles on the seat and it is a hell of a lot better than stock, but only good for about 100 miles before ass burn sets in. I know the Russell daylong never gave me butt burn when I had it on my C14, but it is too ugly and big for me to try on the S3. So far I am pleased with the seat.

I just learned what hate really feels like.... I'm an hour away from a good ride but I bet traffic isn't an issue there...

So how to your man parts fair on this seat? Does the seat push you forward into the tank like the stock seat does? Is the pan wider? (where your cheeks reside)
