165 on dyno 160 on tarmac only cause I didn't have room to push it, I got 144 on the straight at barber. it's a short track and almost ran through turn 1..... whoops

163 indicated by speedo (corrected 5% by tuneboy prior) on a stretch from asheboro,nc to apex, nc while racing a corvette. mostly hovered around 158-159 but finally crept up to 163 on a downhill slant. that was keeping the throttle pegged for a solid 2-3 minutes trying to reach top speed. fun fact: corvettes will go faster that 163![]()
I understand your point and I'd like to agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

ehh, call bullshit if you want. oh noes...limey thinks i'm fibbing.
so i wasn't sitting there with a stopwatch in hand. but still, it was easily better than 2minutes flatout. sorry i don't have an exact time so that i can keep my internet street cred.
now that i'm rereading what you quoted, i'm guessing you were making fun of the "trying to hit top speed". should probably clarify...even running that fast, i couldn't get my bike bumping off the limiter in top gear. it was close, but i think i was just fighting too much wind in order to get it rolling any faster.

Nicene,
the experience you describe makes sense and is similar to what I've experienced. Seems credible to be me. I see no reason to doubt.
Oh, and I am not at all surprised by your observation of corvette performance...
160 on my 97 TL1000S according to the speedo but probly 145ish

Did a little testing today after fixing my tune of death for my bike. At -9% speedo correction I hit 148. Did this today when a Goofball on his gsxr600 popped a mini wheelie when he got next to me. Ran it out and he gave up. After I slowed he got next to me and gave me a thumbs up and took the next exit. So I stood her up to show what a proper wheelie looks like.
