what's so special about tuesday?
So after a few false starts i finally got everything back and can start putting my sppeedy back together.
I picked up the frame last thursday and began putting her back together as soon as i got home.

Due to Transport Tasmania telling me that if i remove, tampered or damaged the VIN sticker on the right hand side of the neck, i decide not to risk damaging it by powder coating the frame so i had it two packed instead. The colour is a fraction lighter than original but overall im happy with it. I also had to replace all the engine covers on the right hand side of the motor.

Have a mate giving me a hand, its been three months since we pulled her down so its taking some time to get everything back in the right place

On our second night of the rebuild, time to get it off the bench and down to the ground, we used tie downs to lower her to the ground, was nervous as shit. Replaced the neck bearings while it was apart and fitted the forks and front wheel, but went to put the new rear wheel on i sourced from a wreckers in melbourne and it wont fit, you guys probably already new this but its of a 2010 sprint, the guy told me it is the same as the 07 triple (apparently not), 5 drive lugs into 4 on the speedy rear hub dont go. Sent him an email and surprisingly he hasnt replied yet....So now im trying to source another wheel, im pissed because i thought i had everything sorted to put her straight back together, fair to say the odd spanner went flying.
If anyone can help with a rear wheel, i can add a bonus carton of Tasmanian Beer to the price

Anyways i pushed on yesterday, fitted the new radiator after straighten a couple of the brackets, added the headlights and thats when i realised ihow much i loved these things, have wanted one for so long, and getting to rebuild one has been a blast, if not a little frustrating.
Couldnt help myself, had to fit the new pipes courtesy of night train, he said they were in excellent condition and they were, like new! cheers mate..
Anyway, ive come to a bit of a halt, dont want to fit the tank and panels until the end to save any damage to them, have to choose a set of bars after easter, i was thinking of going with the pro taper carmicheal bend and rubber mount risers, has anyone got them, im a tall bastard 6'3, i guess its a bit off trial and error to find the right position.
I may have two heads...... but just think how smart that makes me

Coming along very well it seems.

From this point on, refer to me as anything.

I'm 6'2" and I have the Renthal TwinWalls, position is excellent.

it's a special way to build a bike like that. you develop special bond to the bike after all the problems and building it up.thats when i realised ihow much i loved these things, have wanted one for so long, and getting to rebuild one has been a blast, if not a little frustrating.
you will remember this bike forever. Just because you made it in this way. I know that from experience.

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.
