I need a good recommendation for some riding pants. I am 6'2", 36 waist. Looking for something for the coming winter to stay dry and fits well. Don't need the full sport look. Just something I can throw over jeans, keeps me dry and offers some protection.

I like shiny things.

pm doug, he has lots of pants, but never wears them.
I've got held, klim and alpinestars textile gear that work well, but they are very different in sizing. You have some great motorcycle "supermarket" places in Cali, I would go try some gear on and decide from there. In general, you get what you pay for and my gear gets many miles/years of use so read reviews (web bike, etc.) and check the quality and then check the quality and then check the quality.
advrider also has a huge gear section with rider reviews, Q&A as well as selling from vendors and riders. Some amazing deals and great info.

I like Motoport products. They have various styles of pants. The pants contain full armor, the best there is, with wrap around thigh protection, they are Kevlar and the highest quality kit. The issue with nylon product is that it can and does melt in friction and the tear strength is very low. Even the good stuff fails in a crash. Motoport also supplies a large number of police departments and those guys are tough on their gear. Give Wayne a call, he will fix you right up and the gear will last for a decade. It is not cheap however but it is cheap in the longhaul because it will last.
