Wonder how much that rear shock will go for... And the wheels (depending on how much weight they're saving...)

    Those brakes are overkill.

    Re: Speed Triple R

Prizontatt, how are the basic version 2011+ front forks performing? For 2005-2010 the front forks would have been worth the upgrade $$$ alone, but I cannot say for 2011+ as I have not ridden one long enough.

Otherwise: brakes not really necessary, wheels not exceptionally good looking, red subframe not my cup of tea, rear shock probably good but also available in the aftermarket catalog for all 2011+.

If basic 2011 & shock & forks as spare parts adds up to less cash than the R, then I see no point in purchasing one.

    Re: Speed Triple R

I'd say the forks are performing better than the rear shock... they of course COULD be better, but if I only had the $$ to upgrade one end, it'd be the rear. Someday on the horizon I'd like to get an AK-20 kit for the forks, but there are many things before that on my shopping list. IIRC the forks Triumph is putting on the 675R are something like $4000 if you buy them privately... wannabe racers can have fun spending that kind of loot. When I think of what I can do with 4k, forks aren't anywhere in my mind.

Triumph priced the 675R VERY competitively... I expect them to follow the same route here.

Only way I would get the wheels would be if they offer a very significant weight savings, I actually think I like the looks of the stockers on the '11 better....

I'm not interested in the brakes one bit. No problems whatsoever with the current ones... they are lots better than the ones I had on my '03, and sooooo much better than the brakes on my DRZ. The rear wheel lofts easily, maybe TOO easily haha. Hmm... thinking very critically right now, I guess the initial bite could be a little stronger, but new pads should take care of that.

That is a bit on the loony side, as Öhlins NIX30mm cartridges cost ~1200 USD, and you can get full aftermarket Öhlins forks for well under 2500 USD.

Charging 4000 for lower quality OEM spec Öhlins, with NIX30mm inside, is a bit steep.

    Re: Speed Triple R

I originally had an '08 model which I loved to death and the last year got married and travelled overseas for 12 months so decided to sell the bike. I considered getting an '11 model at the beginning of this year but had a few big financial expenses and had to put that idea on hold but now I'm glad I did because when this comes out next year I will get one and I don't care how much they cost I have to have one!!
