    question not covered in the owner's manual

    just got an 02. Trying to learn about it. There is a tiny red lamp on the top triple tree, just behind the stem nut.
    It doesn't show up in the manual, I haven't seen it come on regardless of switch positions or running conditions. The triple tree is machined (looks OEM) to give the little light plenty of room.
    What is this thing? I am thinking alarm, but haven't found any other evidence. Any guesses?

    factory piece? or aftermarket? any way to get info (like how to set it or shut if off) on it, or discover where the rest of it resides?

    factory, having the light doesn't mean you have the alarm. That is all I know.
