I feel ashamed, I have never admitted it before, and I can feel my testicles shrinking as I write. If I keep going they may shoot back up their sockets and turn into ovaries. With that in mind I need to prepare myself for a life ofand I need to know:
- which condoms are thickest so I feel less
- someone told me to cough when it goes in as it hurts less, is this true?
- should I spit or swallow?
- is there a cure for trackday virginity?
- can I borrow someone else's bike?

...just man up and do it. If you crash, you wont be the only one. Trust me.

"is there a cure for trackday virginity?"
yes, just do one.
well worth it. and if you slowly increase the pace and leave your ego home, it's very unlikely that you would crash.
but with ego you'll soon notice some other driver and think you can keep up with him. and down you go.
smoothness is the key. if the bike feels nervous, you are doing something wrong. Or suspension setup is off, anyway you are too close to the limit. you can be quite fast with the bike totally stabile the whole time.
I started doing trackdays around 2001, maybe 2-3 days every year, I have organized also, I just reserved three days for our company motorclub. i've seen every noob crash in the book. and crashed myself.
-first timers usually crash because they get scared during corners, 'I cannot make it'.
-one common issue is to hit your toe to the track and pull up->run wide because getting scared of the toe touch. keep your toes on the pegs, so they don't hit the ground.
-little more experienced usually crash because of they ego(my crash included). They think they can take someone and they start to run too fast for they skill level.
-one good way to crash is to read some target times from the net for the given track, and then install some gps sw and try to make good time.
-one common way is to already run couple of sessions and when you are starting to think you know the track, you take your third session and forgot that it takes couple of laps to warm up the tyres. Tyres are amazingly slippery when cold. Always start slowly and pick up the pace slowly.
-after couple of sessions you begin to feel tired, if you think one thing at the track that doesn't belong there, stop driving. Like thinking, 'this is going well, I think I buy couple of beers when going home.' that's the sure thing you are too tired and soon you will make a mistake.
-wet track is also very slippery, if it rains or the track is moist, don't drive at all. just follow how the experienced drivers are staying out of the track. they know it.
-mechanical issues are quite uncommon, but make sure that if your brake starts to go soft, stop. also make sure your oil filter is tight and oil plug is tight before driving.
for beginner it's good to drop the tyre pressure(measured from cold tyres) to around 2.25bars. this is not mushy to start(before they warm up), but is also very good for most tyres and can handle lot of speed also with good traction. There is always someone saying that you should but 1.9bars or something like that, but it's mushy at start and could be hard for beginner to get the tyres so warm that they harden enough.
When driving, it's best to divide driving to parts, brake->release the brake->turn-> open the throttle slowly and drive through the corner giving it more throttle as it climbs up. Don't jerk the throttle during corner. don't corner and brake at the same time.

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.

Those guys are fags!
One of the best drills I learned at Mid Ohio was riding the entire track with no brakes in 2nd gear. After that, shifting with no brakes. After that, learning how much your braking distances increase as your speed increases for a given corner.

Well some dump called Brands Hatch is my closest track. The standard S3-r tyres will last 5 minutes so I may as well have some fun on them. The last time I went on a track was in a 250cc gearbox kart, I ended up upside down in cow poo, lucky it wasn't my kart![]()
