Guys....need some help
Got a 2001 triple 955i and the bottom I have a small leak at the base of the water pump cover. The cover is the arrow shaped one (if that makes sense) i have replaced the rubber gasket (in the cover) but its still leaking a bit. I know the water pump has a mechanical seal and if its still leaking it could need a new one......but thought i would check on ere first case i am missing summitt stupid, any idea's guys
Also, the coolant capacity is 2.8 ltrs (as per the manual) but i have only managed to get just 1.6 ltrs in. I have squeezed all the pipes...rocked the bike from side to side and forwards, started the bike for a while revved it up etc etc and cannot get any more in.....again idea's before i set fire to the bloody thing
Cheers Stewy

Sounds like yer pump is fooked and I believe there is a drain plug on the bottom of the engine some place, its been a while since I owned one, let alone did anything crazy like change the oil or coolant.![]()
Dano, hockey and keith just did an engine change on Dano's 955, give Dano a pm if nobody spots this thread.
You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone!
So ya recon new water pump in, cover on and that should stop leakingcannot be that easy.....nothing ever is, with me anyhow
As for the coolant......i have already lost the coolant when i took the pump cover, but how the feck do i get enough coolant back into the bloody thing![]()
Cheers Fella i will.....give it a couple hrs or so then will PM him........
Hi limey.......not sure mate how would I know? But a fair point, when I went to take the water pump cover of whatever came out of there is what I have lost.....so you may be right, but how do I no?

I would tend to agree the water pump is fücked. When the seals go on a water pump they leak just like you mentioned. New pump, fixed.
While you got it apart, flush the living shït out of the cooling system. I bet there's still some casting crud in there.
I'm pretty sure someone around here did a how-to on "burping" the system to get it full. Look around. There should be a bleed screw on the top of the radiator. Probably on the right, but I'm not so clear on the early 2000's bikes.
