I will look into this. I just got the bike a few weeks ago, and on my initial ride (about 200 miles), shifts were fine. Then I stopped for a bit to see a friend, got back on for the short ride home, and I couldn't even get it out of first. I'm thinking it might need a clutch lever/cable adjustment. Doesn't happen all the time.

I thought it had to be a part that could be purchased separately. I was even wondering if it actually came with one of the parts on the diagram, but it just wasn't itemized specifically. Thanks for the possible explanation and the link to McGill. If I could have picked one up locally here in Houston, I would cancel my dealer order. As it is, I will stick with it this time. This is extremely helpful. Thanks.

How many miles do you go between oil changes? I had my transmission get stuck in 1st when I was using regular full-synthetic auto oil in my bike and waited about 5,000 miles before changing the oil. After the oil change, shifting when back to perfect. The bike may be trying to say, "Oil, bitch! OIL!"

First thing I did was get the oil changed and have the rear brake pads replaced when I got it a few weeks ago. I thought it might help, but it appears that perhaps the linkage may have been loose all along. New parts should come in today or tomorrow, so i'll find out soon.

Loose and/or the previous owner was ham-foot'd with his shifting.
