Battery doesn't seem to be a problem. The starter motor or the connection to it would be worth looking at though.

My 07 does it sometimes too. It's no big deal-I'm pretty sure it's just the thumb starter switch on the handlebar. There is probably some moisture in there. I notice it if it rained while I was at work or there was a big temperature drop-condensation causing corrosion. Opening it up and maybe cleaning the contacts (disconnect the batt. first!!) will very likely fix the problem. I'm just too lazy to do it right now.

Picked up the bike today with no faults found,i can understand where there coming from as they can't find a problem but it leaves me with the feeling when is it going to happen again. might just have a look over everything my self the weekend.

Zippy's advice seems valid.

But its charging at 14.5v what i will do is take it for a ride with volt meter attached and see what happens that way.
Ok have tested battery over the last 6 days with out a charge & its gone from 12.8 - 12.6 so no problem there, put the volt meter on road test today at idle its 14.5 & while riding it stayed at 14.3 so no drop there either.
I have now cut the 2 wires at clutch lever & solderd together, this should eliminate another possible cause to my problem and fingers crossed this might be it??.

My '08 did the same thing a year ago, lazy crank for a couple of revs then nothing. I was at the dealer so they got their jump battery and before they got back I tried again and it cranked and started.
Makes me think its a switch or connection, flat battery is flat and wont start till charged. I suspected the clutch switch 'cos its a bit loose in the lever but it hasn't happened since.
p.s. My bike is on the original battery and its not uncommon to sit for a month with no battery tender. The only time I had to use a charger on it was when I forgot to unplug the lights when I was tuneboying it.
