    Re-starting Troubles

    Hi Gents,
I have an '08 Speedy that is giving me problems.
A few weeks ago I came out of a store and she wouldn't start.
Good samaritan gave me a jump with some cables and vroom off I went.

Decided to get a new battery, it was the same one since new.
Now the new battery is installed, also I keep her on a tender every night without fail.
Today I took her out for a spin, rode for an hour, then filled up with gas, went to fire her back up and... Nothing.
    Wouldn't Start.
Checked all the fuses, no problems there, all were good.
Nice guy w/ cables jumped it, and started right up.

Got right around the corner from my house ten minutes later and she died Again.

    Anyone have ideas?
Like I said, brand new battery and on a tender every night.
    Thanks a lot:::::
    Ryan

I have the same problem with my 08 as well, first time was 2 months ago went flat when stopped for fuel so i changed battery and tested charging all ok, then it happend again a week later so went to dealer as had warranty and they changed the clutch sensor switch on the clutch lever so all has been well until today when i took it down for an m.o.t stopped at a garage & then went to start it & nothing. dealer picked it up in there van.
When they phoned later they said the battery was flat But my headlights were as bright as a bean so i said to them there must be a fault some where.
They are keeping the bike for a few days now to test things out & will let you know what the result is.

Check neutral switch (side stand switch) and also cabling where it passes under a clamp on the right hand side of the headstem. It is not uncommon for a wire to be damaged under that clamp, and often makes intermittent contact.

Hate to jump on the negativity bandwagon, but sounds like a regulator/rectifier or (worse yet) stator issue. Sincerely hope it isn't...

Is it just a dead start (nothing happens) or is the bike trying to start?

It is barely half a turn and then nothing switch it back on again and same happens but headlights and dash lights don't dim. girl at dealers said that i need to have battery on optimate all the time when not used ?? bull sh.t,its charging at 14.5v so how can i ride for 30 miles then when i stop it wont start so must be a problem.
Triumph dealer doing work so they should be able to find the problem if not it can stay down there as im buggerd if it happens in the middle of now where as you can't bump them.
