    Exclamation No electric???

Was looking forward to the ride home from work. Turned the key and got standard dash lights (2006 speed triple btw) went to put it in neutral and then all the dash lights blink off ? Now when I turn key to on I get nothing ( maybe see very brief flicker in oil light). Tried checking fuses under seat and they seem ok. Pulled a couple of relays ( think they are relays by fuse box) and reinstalled, still nothing. Haven't gone throughout repair manual yet but electronics are definitely not my strong suit. Lots of smart folks on here! Any ideas?

First thing you should always do is check battery connections. Slightly loose or dirty connections have caused many a problem to be posted up here over the years

Read another post with something a bit similar (maybe should have tried reading more before posting) Didn't think it would be battery as had full lights then they just went off but may e it just had enough for a second? Happened right when I rocked it back a bit on kickstand ( standing off bike ) to get it into neutral so maybe though maybe side stand switch ? But I forget if that kills dash lights too or just stops engine ( thinks its the latter).

Check the headlight fuse, and all the other fuses of course. My guess? It's the infamous short in the loom by the head stock.

I've seen some posts about the loom. Bike is still at work, can I just try to wiggle it around a bit to see if I can at least get the bike home or does it usually take more work than that?

if it is the problem, you'd be wise to fix it before riding. it can and will shut down completely when it feels like it, if this is your issue.

There is a cable that comes out of the bottom of the ignition barrel. From the factory they tied this up with a cable tie underneath the top yoke. This has caused some cables to rub on a security snap bolt shaft and cut through the wire. Check this area for damaged wires.

I did a post with a step by step fix on this issue.

Continues to amaze how different the symptoms can be when you just have a dead battery. Got a new one in and all is well. Guess it was a good opportunity to check wire routing, did find some spots I could tape up better. Thanks for the replies and suggestions! Mostly a lurker on this site but always get good info from friendly folks!
