I got my 07 s3 back from its first service and within a few days riding started to hear funny noise. Also my gas milage was way down from going 120 miles per tank to 80-90 miles a tank. A few more days and its unbearable, finally pin point it to chain. It was really loose and was chewwing up the guide rail it rides on. So they re tension it and send me on my way. the noise is better but still there and my milage is still around 90 miles per tank. So I take it back and they reinspect, lube chain (soaked in lube) and that noise is now gone. BUt now that the high pitch noise is gone my engine sounds different then pre 600 mile service. And gas is still around 90 per tank. Any ideas?
There's not much that is done at 600 miles that should affect consumption.
Assuming you're not flogging the bike I'd go through the maintenance schedule for 600 miles and check each item has been done correctly.
Their inability the correctly set the chain isn't a good omen though.
Brakes dragging, clutch slipping, loose spark plug, much thicker oil, low tyre pressure are some things that should be checked.
They didn't change your map did they?

My other ride is your daughter!
A 25% reduction in mileage is HUGE.
That alone should be telling you and the dealer that something that was done is WRONG.
Get you bike back there or to another dealer ASAP and tell them to fix it.
Most of what I know comes from breaking something FIRST.
+1 on taking it to another dealer if at all possible.Originally Posted by Devious

one wheel is too little and anything over 2 is just unnecessary. motorcycle is only the essense of mobility.
Thanks for the replies, I am going to ride very conservitive this tank full and see if I can get close to previous milage, maybe I was just riding allot harder than I thought? But still here is my bike lineage. I went from 00 ducati monster-01 buell x1 lightning-07 triumph675- 07 speed 3 and I have never had a bike change as drastically as this one has after first service. The motor feels rougher, mileage down, after fireing more often. I think something is wrong and the dealer isn't catching it. After this tank if not improving I ill just keep taking it back till its right?

Listen to Dfib and at least check for vacuum in the tank. After you ride, if you open the gas cap, is there a vacuum?
...boo hoo, my vajayjay hurts/my bike is acting up/ ive never driven more than 2 hours at a time......![]()

No vacuum in tank and verified correct hose placement.
And I don't think they would have reason to touch my map, but it will be a question at the top of my list!
P.S. only mechanical mods k&n air filter and arrow 3into1 installed and remapped at 50 miles.
Just wondering aloud, they wouldn't have over oiled the K&N now, would they?
