    heated grips

Any suggestions for heated grips for an 1050 S3? I wasn't sure if the Sprint or Tiger grips would overload the electrics or not. Also, has anyone fitted any handguards on an S3 and if so what works. I don't think that the hypermotard guards look bad and I know that they would certainly keep my hands warmer this time of year.
    thanks, moparstac

I have some like these on mine, that I bought on sale for about $20 at Cyclegear. They work great. I use them along with my Gerbing electric jacket liner without taxing the electricals at all. I did set them both up on a high-amp solenoid and a small switch with their own power supply and fuse from the battery.

I'm a wiring genius, so it's actually pretty clean. The big problem is you have to leave some slack on the throttle side so it kind of looks like crap hanging out there. However I don't find it gets in the way. Actually I don't even notice it. Theoretically it could be shorter I guess.

The rest of it ties up nicely to the loom so you don't really see it.

My switch got ****ed in the last crash, but it still works. One of these days I'll replace it with the same one. It was for a set of driving lights and has two LED's indicating off and on. Nice. I nabbed power from the pilot lights in the headlight bucket to power the switch, but the actual grips come directly from the solenoid. All fully soldered connections.

On the clutch side you can't even see the wires if you run them under the switch gear and tie them off to the regular loom. Some day I'll pull apart the loom and run them in with the rest of the wiring and you'll never know it isn't stock.

If you don't like the wires hanging on the throttle side you could get one of these:

I hear good things about them, but have no experience with them.

Dredging up an old post here. What was the "one of these" to address the throttle wire? The site/link is now dead.

I believe it was one of the inside the tube heaters, that the wires run inside the bar. I don't remember for sure.

    Re: heated grips

just installed these last night. They'll make it nice for the cool mornings, plus I can take them off later in the summer when I dont need them.
