Ugh please tell me i didnt noob up my 07

Ok so i recently had a thread about a hose i found without connection. didn't know where it came from, posted thread, ended up being from evap system. So after reading a TON of info here and elsewhere i got ready to remove. When i came to removing the tank, i discovered only 1 hose (vent to ground) and the other (that is suppsed to be going to the evap, totally empty. It was the same length as my "loose hose". perfect! so i decided before i take it out, i wood see how it weren't connected properly. Went on a ride, no issues! and no more smelling like i took a shower in gasoline!

Well today i took out bike and as start down drive it kills out! strange so i drove it a short ways and it was definitely not feeling the same, sounded wrong, tach was wobbling shortly in idle, and i swear i hear like a sandy sound. the only thing different is attaching said plug (pic below).

I am worried because the hose had the valve (with "Up" writting) and now i'm thinking i plugged the wrong end into the bottom of tank.

Any help for me,and my big noobies floppin about, would be GREATLY appreciated.

So? What was it? Pinched fuel line?

malfunctioning/faulty (flip?) valve. basically the valve that is attached to the evap system to tank. while looking to see if i had somehow installed improperly i found a post by @crashmastered (who hopefully won't mind my copy paste from thread "Tank surge/vacuum problem")

"That valve has nothing to do with "tipover" although a lot of people use the term. It is actually part of the emissions control system. On the tank vent it is simply a one-way valve that allows air into the tank (to prevent vacuum) but not allow fuel vapors out of the tank. I actually opened mine up to prove it, and found that's all it was. A stupidly complex spring loaded two-stage one way valve. If your bike were to "tip-over" fuel could spill out through the valve eventually, although due to the tank's design that's unlikely. The valve itself is a crappy piece of engineering.
California bikes (and possibly some others) do not have this valve. Instead they have a solenoid and a charcoal canister connected to the tank breather.
The problem is this valve is prone to getting clogged or otherwise blocked, which causes a tank vacuum to occur as the fuel pump drains the tank. Another problem has been thumb-fingered/ham-fisted mechanics installing the valve in the vent line backwards. It can be safely thrown away, and most of us have." [email protected]

HaHaHa! You know you got a good cat butt plug when it sparkles!

So i actually have a follow up question that i didn't see on forum, at least to my knowledge.

What about just replacing the inline filter? im guessing i'm just delaying the inevitable of it going out and i'm back to where i started. But i am curious as to what you all think.
