    SW-Motech centerstand install

Edit: I recieved the correct parts, but the crap instructions show the installation backwards.
    Here's all the parts:

    Here's the dreaded instructions:

Note, the shorter bracket goes on the left hand side of the bike.
Here's some pictures of the install.

I did have an issue other than the poor instructions, there was too much powder coating on one of the brackets, so i couldn't get the bolt through. Luckily i discovered this before I put it on the bike, and I used a dremel to enlarge the hole a bit.

You will need a T55 torx bit to undo the frame bolts, that's the only special tool I needed to buy.

Hey thanks, KC! Good post! I'd love to see more step-by-step pix on this especially since the directions are notoriously crap. I remember reading someone posting up that this is a two man job... true or untrue?

Can you intall the center stand while the bike is on it's sidestand? Do you have to disconnect any suspension pieces to mount the brackets?

The whole difficulty cleaning/lubing the chain and doing oil changes is starting to get old. A centerstand is in my future.

Keep the pix & info coming...

Another thanks from me, KC. I got my centerstand in a little while back and you are right...the instructions are crap. I'll be watching this post.

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Re: SW-Motech centerstand install

When I opened up the box and looked at all the loose parts and the lousy instructions, my first thought was WTF?!

Fortunately, an engineer friend was looking over my shoulder at the time and suggested that I begin by identifying the mounting points under the motor and then assembling the pieces together off the bike (just hand tight) to get an idea of the relationship of all the parts. That made everything much clearer, and it actually went together pretty easy.

I looked at other pictures on this site and on twistedthrottle's site to try to make sense of it, and I agree it's not that complicated once you have an idea of how it all fits.

It can be done by one person and it can be done with the bike on the side stand. The only suspension part that needs to be undone is the outer nut on the left side of the link.

I'm still waiting to find out if they will be able to send out the correct parts.

Definitely post more pics. I'm seriously considering a centerstand, seeing how it goes on would be sweet!

I installed the same thing on my 05 S3 and it went very well. The parts you took pics of look like the same parts I recieved and installed.

I did install the hangers on the wrong sides at first and wondered why things would not line up. Then I looked again and reversed the hangers and all went well.

Good luck. I hope this helps.
