^ No...he is talking about the large bore radial master cylinder/lever. The aftermarket reservoirs only improve the looks (if you like that sort of thing)

    Re: 1050 S3 Brake Fix!

    OK problem sorted.

Rather than spend £250 changing the pistons and seals, I have gone with the GSXR caliper and master cylinder swap. Same price for better results so far. The calipers and master cylinders were £100 this new lines from Hel performance £90 and new HH pads (£47) + brake fluid.

They need a little bleeding but immediately I have noticed a difference. Before the lever was wooden and hardly had any travel (if the pistons had been pushed back in) but now there is good feel from the lever, with a more progressing pressure on the lever resulting in greater stopping power.........I know.....thats how it should be!

I highly recommend the GSXR fix if you can get the parts at the right price. I thought I would miss the gold calipers but the black ones actually look really good!

    Re: 1050 S3 Brake Fix!

A few months ago, I swapped out stock calipers for the R1 capilers. Awesome change. I spent first week avoiding kissing the front guard every time I braked. Have since firmed up front suspension to help cut the front end dive. I spent more on the pads alone than on the calipers(from the US) or the HEL lines.
I have deferred the idea of a radial MC as un-necessary with the new found feel and stopping power.

Oh and the info on this site was invaluable.

Incidently, I don't know if anyone else was aware of it - Brake caliper spacers from 05-10 Fireblade will fit just nicely (may need a teensy bit of sanding). Note it is NOT as cheap as using random washers that fit, but DO look the part and fit flush.

    1050 S3 Brake Fix!

For an aftermarket reservoir, some have purchased from the Triumph catalog. Others like myself have Rizoma. You can buy Rizoma from pjsparts.com

Sorry to bump this old thread, I'm about to finally do the R1 caliper swap, is part #13 the the one you're talking about?

Viewing the image on my phone, it looks like it - I can't quite make out the part numbers precisely, but the one that looks like 13 does look like it. I'll have a look again when I get home from work. And confirm for you. Sorry I can't help much more till then.

Just got home and checked on the computer, YES it is part # 13 that I was referring to.

Sheesh! I just saw the price Bike Bandit are asking. The local Honda dealership violated me without lube! They reamed me at $10 each! Arse raped much? Think I was.
