2007 Speed Triple Seat Latch Issues

(This is my first post. If it's in the wrong spot, let me know)

    Hi guys,

Ever since I've purchased my 2007 Speed Triple (used), I have had issues latching the OEM seat to the bike. I can push on it many times to no avail. Eventually, it will latch, but obviously I'd rather have it latch the first time.

If there are any tips or tricks on how to get the thing to latch please let me know. The 2-up seat cover is installed, and it unlatches perfectly (if that makes a diffrence.)

    Thanks,
    -Jeff V

Grease it. It'll come off a ton easier too.

Tried that, didn't seem to help...

I guess I'm just used to it by now. I hammer fist the seat above the latch when I'm putting it on and as I turn the key to remove it.

it has x2 rubber grommets on the back that keep tension on it. I suggest shaving them thinner. I just set the seat down, and give it a quick smack with my fist and it locks in place. Unlocking I just load light tension on the key, and another quick smack and it releases..

Joe likes to smack them on the seat. It's the reason for his restraining order.

IIRC I shimmed it with a washer to give a touch more play.
I can’t remember if I did the shaft or the seat.
    I’ll check later.

My 07 is exactly the same, just push down right above the latch with all your weight and all good.
Better than a loose rattly seat I reckon.
