    Reg/Rec Wiring question

Looking to preventively replace the the R/R on my 955.

    no issues .... yet

My question is if im wiring straight to the battery with a 30amp fuse..... What is done about the Remaining open ended stock harness?? leave it? Open?

Roadster cycle recommended not using their "Harness kit" with that R/R because he didnt trust the stock wiring. (with the SH847 SERIES reg/rec.) Or am i over thinking it and should just get teh more standard mosfet shunt style?

Seems the open ended wiring leads off to the fuse box...

So I wired to the reg/rec from the stator.
But wired straight to the battery from the reg/rec.

I do believe something will be open ended yes. I tried sealing it with just some electrical tape. You're talking bout that modification so that you get a better charging system? IF so I'm pretty sure yes.

Yeah I did the upgrade last year after being left stranded in the middle of nowhere on a 3 day trip. I went for the more expensive series style and think you will be happy. Gotta mount it on an angle for it to fit under the bodywork. I used one of the screws and a metal zip tie to hold the other part in place. And yes, there will be open wiring from the stock harness, we went a step further and removed the quick connectors and just soldered all the wires on permanently to help prevent failure in the future.

THanks for the idea beer Kanuck with the zip tie. I feel weird only using one bolt.
