Small difference in my Damper Cartridges

I'm currently rebuilding and cleaning my front fork assembly.
When removing the damper cartridges i noticed there was a difference in the top part.
As can seen on the attached image there is a hole at the top of my right fork assembly.

I wonder if this is how it should be, or something has gone wrong (installing a later version on one side only for example)
Not sure if it influences the damping characteristics.

off-topic: nice to see so many ST enthusiasts. I bet I'm able to see some of my question answered at a professional level!

Re: Small difference in my Damper Cartridges

I don't remember for sure about the 1999, but on the 05-07 models one fork has compression damping and the other has rebound damping. So yes, they are probably supposed to be slightly different.

How about that for a helpful answer?

Re: Small difference in my Damper Cartridges

I took both to the Triumph dealer and they looked it up in their parts ordering system. Turns out there is no damper cartridge available with holes in it.

So I tapped in m4 thread and secured some bolts in place with some casing sealant.

    Thanks for replies!
