Wonderful day at Infineon today. A bit hot, amazing.
First time on this track and first time with a Speed. Infineon is not a fast track (I don't think the average rider goes much faster than 110 or so), and that's perfect for the SIII. The bike feels solid and stable (particularly after a suspension setup by the track wizz), engine is generous and powerful, brakes are good enough. It doesn't really feel like a racer, but it certainly feels good to get that engine screaming for once, and lean some serious angles without too many second thoughts.
Too bad it ended all too soon when I was stopped by the flag in an early afternoon session for a leaking oil filter. It's got only 2500 miles on the clock.
Just bad luck? or anything to do with trackriding?

hmm, Premie had this same problem a while back... something about a crack in the oil cooler by the lines. Is that where it's leaking from?
Gots any pics from the track??![]()
Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity
I don't know if it's anything to do with trackriding, but mine did the same thing after its first track day - got it warrantied, then no more problems. I think it has more to do with cheap Malaysian parts...Originally Posted by charel

Interesting...I've had my 1050 to 3 track days so far without any issues so far, with 4200+ on the clock. I would tend to agree is more likely to just be a part issue rather than a track issue, but definitely something to keep an eye on.
My other ride is your daughter!

The leak was pretty impressive from the left side upper corner of the cooler.
I'm fortunate that somebody spotted the problem while I was riding and before I slipped on my own oil. My last track experience ended with a highsider that wrecked my ducati and gave me an expensive helicopter ride. I don't need an oil piss and repeat experience.
Track pics will show that my confidence in tires is not what it used to be. I'll see if I can post a pic or two once I get them
I told the mechanic to look at the whole oil tubing and I don't want a repeat at the next weak spot, next time I may be less lucky... Also suggested warranty because 2500 miles only...
Well...
did you tell em where this occurred? It may not matter, but I'm curious if they would give you any flack if they knew you were on the track.Originally Posted by charel
