service or not to service... that is the question...

So my 1050 Triple is up for it's 2 year / 12k service.
I've only done 6K miles and it's running fine..
I'm keeping the bike for years... no intention of selling it and it's out of warranty.
Garages want between £330 and £400 for the service (including valve clearences etc..)
My question is should I get the service just to keep up the stamps... or is it not worth doing bearing in mind i can change oil/fluids and other basic service items myself?
    Would appreciate some wisdom!
    Thanks in advance!!!

My personal policy, change the fluids, wait till 12k on the the mechanicals.

I know someone will correct me...but the only thing I've got that is time and not just mileage is the duc and the belts. I would do the 6k (either yourself or dealer), but not the 12.

6000 miles? **** it. You don't need your valves adjusted, and any monkey can change the oil, coolant, and brake fluid. That's all the dealer is going to do anyway.

At 6000 miles I doubt they would even pull the cam cover and check the valves, although they probably would charge you for it and tell you they did.

I think doing your own 6K service is an ideal time to get to know your bike. Download the service manual and get to work. Especially when I see your dealer is trying to rip you off.

Damn, damn, triple damn and a side-chaser of hell blast, that was good work!

That's some steep prices for sure. **** that. Do what you can to it, oil, filter, etc. My last service I paid for was the 12K and I haven't been back to the dealer since for "service".. My bike has 27K on it now and runs perfectly.
