There is was an old "upgrade sprag" that is no longer available. Currently for the S3 1050 is either the new sprag($200'ish) or the "sprag kit"($400'ish) that includes the new sprag and a new gear to retrofit the older bikes to utilize the new sprag.
In short that's exactly what I'm saying. I got the sprag changed over Jan 2009 by which time Triumph had released the upgraded sprag kit (released late 2007). The Stealership installed the old style kit because they had it in stock i guess, the end result it lasted 2 years.Originally Posted by dr_gallup

Sparti, I can see why you may be frustrated with this situation, but it isn't the dealer's fault that the "old" sprag is what got put in your bike. for warranty repairs, Triumph provides parts (therefore will use superceded parts until inventory is depleted), and pays the dealer labor to install them. less than the normal labor rate to be exact. so not only did you get what you got, so did the poor tech who worked on your shit. he probably got paid 60% or less than what he would normally have got paid for the job. if you feel you were screwed, you're not the only one.Originally Posted by Sparti
point being, if your bike was fixed under warranty, and you have beef with them putting in the "old style" sprag, your beef is with Triumph, not the dealer.
Ha! You came to the wrong place talking that shit. We missing bone, spleens, testicles, and common sense from riding bikes.
The previous repair was NOT a warranty claim.....the bike was nearly 4 years old at the time. Sparti said that he had them repair it as he didn't have the time.Originally Posted by antisocial

well, if I had paid to have the "new kit" installed, and ended up with the old, I'd be a bit pissed as well.

^ was he said. But as we all know..kindness goes farther than anger. I would definitely be pissed as well..but like was said..dealer put in what they had, was it wrong? Not necessarily. Was it the 'right' thing to use the older style? nope. Should you expect a refund? nope. 2 years later..gonna be hard pressed to get any kind of a positive result, other than the dealership firing off a letter to Triumph to let them know to pull the remaining 'old' style pieces from the shelves. But then again..big T may just not give a ****.
I hope you do find some resolution Sparti. But nice job gettin that done, with your own made tools. Ingenious my friend!
