    2008 Speed Triple airflow code

I bought a used S3 and have had it a couple of months. When i got it it was throwing a airflow code. The sympton that it has is that when i first start it i have to rev it up to about 3000 rpm for about twenty seconds then it runs fine. So I am thinking its an airflow thing you know maybe a vacuum hose. I also need to replace the stator and in order to test that I need to pull the tank. I noticed that the drain and breather hoses are transposed on the gas tank according to the photo on the haynes manual. BTW I really like the online Haynes manuals. I have never worked on motorcycles before and am just hunting for ideas on how to solve this problem. Not the stator problem my understandin of that is a little better. If its overcharging ist the reticulator or whatever that thing is called and if its undercharging it the stator. Any thoughts before i pull it apart. Things to look for. I know its probably a vacum leak. I just dont know were to look on this thing.

I agree, vacuum leak. This thing uses vacuum pulses from the intake to time the EFI. Since it's an 08 I wouldn't be surprised if one of the hoses has deteriorated, or simply got pulled off or something.

The hoses you want to inspect are 26-29 on this diagram. Considering the age of your bike, it may be worth it to simply replace them with silicone hoses anyway. The top of the large hose goes to the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensor on the top left hand side of the airbox.

Just a hint too, you can discard the one-way valve on the tank breather line. It's problematic at best.

The last place I got them was just at NAPA. Take your old ones in and get the right size, and make sure they're vacuum line and not fuel line.
