I found an 05+ throttle tube with grip on ebay for like $10 a while ago in case I ever wanted to go back to rubber grips. Well, my old gloves were pretty worn out and I was losing grip on my carbon fiber/leather momo's so I swapped out throttles.

I happened to notice the 05+ throttle is a MUCH larger diameter (meaning shorter turning for more throttle) and was a direct fit thankfully after a little cable adjustment at the control end. I'm going to test the throttle response out today to see if I notice a big difference... I'll try and get photos later to show the difference between the two tubes.

Hmm... Anyone notice a difference between these two? Just a little one?



When I used a digital caliper to measure, the stock 03 tube was 1.25" and the 05+ was something like 1.55" or so. Didn't get a chance to jump on the bike, but I'm thinking the throttle response is going to be a hair sharper and shorter.

I accidentally killed two birds with one stone when I installed Hot Grips heated grips. They measure 1 7/16. Then I murdered the whole flock with Tony Woodhouse's quick action throttle and 17/46 520 conversion.

Lol, yeah 17/46 is 'stupid-fast'. With my 17/45 combo I could do 0-137 like NOW. Just full pull throughout the entire rev range. ANY slight grab of gas in 1st brought the front wheel shooting skyward in a nasty powerwheelie. I'm going to switch back to that combo after I do the front end swap so I can show the Gixxer kiddies how its done on the track in August and September. Went back to the stock front sprocket to save gas mileage a bit and make the bike smoother for daily riding. 17/45 was a bit too jerky for comfortable daily use or 50mpg.

Yeah its jerky but it makes me concentrate on throttle control besides, if mpg was what it was about then we would all be riding Vespa's or hybrids and smelling our own farts. :-[
