All on a S3?
Nice one!!!

Now relax and enjoy a well-earned pint.
Man, I would like more info on this trip. I have been thinking about doing a similar run out to Oregon from Minnesota later this summer to visit my brother. How was the s3? Did you camp? Stay in hotels? How many miles per day did you do? Can you still walk and talk and function semi normally?
Great fun.

What was the route?

that's the gist of it... there were different back roads taken, but streets and trips is a bitch to get it to go where you want.

06 s3, just hit 6k miles. was perfectly comfortable once i pulled off my pack of clothes and attached it to the rear seat. it was a bit cold, but i camped when i needed to. the first night out i slept at a friends house, the second night i ran into 3 co-workers in b'ham who had a spare bed in the hotel, third night i camped in north georgia at a horse trailer campground thing, the fourth night i ran into my roommate in north georgia and slept in his van. it was better than outside that night... i think it got down to 45 or so, and i didn't have a sleeping bag.

i seemed to get about 110 or 120 miles per $8.50 in gas, and i ate as cheap as i could after having to buy the tire($212 installed for pilot power).

i rode from whenever i woke up to about 2 hours past dark most days. no physical problems, actually my back StOPPED hurting like it does every day after the first day on the bike.

also, i recommend bicycle shorts. they make it SOOOO much better to ride.

Awesome ride! Just my kind of thing. Only thing is, if i'd set out on a 2600 mile trip i'd end up the other side of Europe.

I so gotta start saving for a trip to the US! Just seems so awesome there to be able to ride that far and then speak the same language to people you meet...oh well, future plans...
