600 miles on a new rear tire before I got a BF nail in the middle of it. My previous record was 1000 miles .

My record was about 100km (60 miles). I got it plugged. Worked fine, I even forgot it was in and did about 220km/h on it one day (on a closed private track of course officer). In retrospect it was pretty stupid and I think I'd just bite the bullet and replace it now.

Has anybody ever witnessed a patched tire fail? Because of the patch I mean. I asked because many people consider patching a tire very dangerous.

I´d never ride a patched tyre.

On a bike I only have two of them - and I want to really be sure that they are both 100% okey. No risk!!

My last work tire had 3 plugs in it before I got the BF nail that did it in. I had no problems with the tire while it was plugged. I rode it hard and never gave it any thought. I discovered the fourth nail while at the popo garage so I had the tire changed. If I would have been out on patrol I would have plugged it. 4 plugs would be the new record in my squad. I may be wrong in thinking like this but if you have a cherry tire and it gets a nail and goes flat, then it is flat. If you have a plugged tire and a plug comes out, it goes flat. Same, same. Only difference is in cost of repair (plug vs. new tire) and in the rider's mind.
