I want to build a custom pipe for my 1050. I want to tuck a small conical can into the area under the rider peg (right side). In order to do this I will have to cut the header pipe right behind the collector. Is this where the pre cat is located? I want to know if this will affect tuning much, is this ill-advised? I would end up leaving enough pipe there for a O2 sensor bung, and a slip fit can (about 1.5-2"). I hear that you may be doing the header mods/ coating on an exchange basis? I am very interested in this, along with the cool air kit you have posted. I am sorry to bug you, but from what I have read, you are the guy to ask. ;)

Thanks Alaska, I thought that was right, but I have learned never to trust my intuition. I trust my instinct instead, so I smash thigs and wreck alot ;D

Alaska is correct, and has you covered.

IF you are going to do the work on the custom pipe yourself, remove the pre-cat at the same time... You will like the results. ;)

I THOUGHT I was going to have a bunch of spare time on my hands this winter (to modify headers)... I was wrong. So the header work is on hold for a while, but perhaps in a couple of months. Between business, toys, a new business project, and my brother's boat-building company, I am covered up.

I am working on too many engines right now - The Triple, a MODIFIED outboard boat engine (two-stroke V6), a turbocharged 4-banger for a new Lotus, and a twin-turbo aluminum V8 for another boat that will be at the LA Boat Show in Feb. I spent the whole weekend hovering over a flowbench and manometers.

If anyone has seen my head, let me know. :violent1:
