I'm ready to give this a shot. I have an 07 S3 with TORS and a TuneBoy set-up. My question us this; If I do the SAI removal and re-tune with TuneBoy, will there be any ill effects with the cat converter?

Hooligan,
First, why do you want to remove the SAI? There is no performance benefit by itself, it only stops the popping on decelleration. I did it to get rid of the popping (drove me crazy), better tune the bike, and to allow for me to get cooler air into the engine.

Your reasons can be just as good/bad, I just want to make sure you know that there is no performance gain by itself.

It should not hurt the stock cat, it only causes a dilution of gasses. It may cause the cat to run a bit warmer, but not a lot.

Some cars use SAI, and some do not - within the same model line, using the same cats and exactly the same engine.
Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for any performance gain, I just don't like the popping and the extra heat it causes. I'm trying to find some block-off plates, but it I can't find any so I'll just plug the reed valve covers with something and pull the rest of the stuff off. I'm sure TuneBoy has the proper tune; I have not visited the web site in a while. Thanks again!

PM Kuhlka. He's the man when it comes to block-off plates. :)

Thanks!!
It is pretty simple to take off one of the fittings, trace around it and band saw out some plates. I'm sure Kuhlka's CNC'd plates are a little nicer but I was able cut, drill and sand a set in under an hour. Priming and painting took a little longer.
