Anybody going to the races April 20-22? 3 of us from the Houston area are carring over on the 20th, staying at the Days Inn in Leeds. We'd be happy to meet for the races or for dinner and libations Saturday.

I'm going, probably just drive over from Atlanta on Sunday morning.
If there's a meeting place at the track, let me know.
Also, anyone advise on the best corner/area to sit (not on a straight or watching the pits (yawn)?
Cheers

I think I'll be wandering around some, actually. I think there are trees in the centre of the track which may restrict the viewing of a more than one or two corners from one location. It's an easy place to get around, I believe, with a shuttle running around the outside of the spectator areas.
Cheers

Sadly, the infield is inaccessible to spectators at Barber. That being said, the Turn 1-2-3 complex is visible from a high vantage on a grassy bank, and if you walk in behind the museum, the exit of the 6-7-8 esses into 9-10 short chute will be a fun place to watch bikes change direction quickly.

I was back at Barber on Friday. The area opposite the pits offers a nice view of the straights, and if you can get an area at the edge of the woodline, it would be very shady.

Also, at the end of each major turn, there are banked grassy areas that allow for a nice view the higher you sit.

Get there early enough to go back through the museum. Lots af neat stuff there - especially if you have not visited for a while. If it is not busy, find an older white haired gentleman named Bud, he is an amazing source of information and many details. If it is busy, he will be the one to watch out for - "Don't Touch!" is his favorite phrase.

Bring water.

I live about 20 miles away. HiVel lives right in Leeds.

If you don't mind a little drive (10-15 minutes by back roads) to Hwy 280, you can find anything from fancy to fast-food. Thai, sushi, steaks, Italian, BBQ, Jamaican/island, etc.

280 can get busy, and the restaurants fill up early. But lots of choices for food and drinks.

I'll be there Sunday taking pictures. I'll wander around the track all day. I hope to see some of you there. I'll have on a Blue US Naval Academy T-shirt and I'll very large white Canon lenses. I'm hard to miss. I'm 6'1" 245lbs and I have a flat top hair cut.

Right now I am trying to clear up Saturday so I can go.

I may have to be in the FL panhandle all day at a boat race - prior commitments and new ones. But I am working on it. :violent1:

If I can't go, I will try and get you reservations and directions. How many in your party, sir?
Thai Emerald has great food - even if you don't like Thai. And it is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the track taking back road.

I just remembered...I will also have on a blue Triumph cap, so the flat top may not help you much...
