I've got 17/45 and it works great, but requires a lot more throttle control as it'll shoot the front end up FAST if you grab much throttle at any rpm in 1st. The rest of the gears its just instant-on power. I've heard you get more wear on the swingarm wear blocks with 17/42, but it'd probably take a while as long as you keep your chain properly lubed.
