Anyone reroute those pesky overflow hoses?

When I took my 06 S3 to the dealer for the TORS tune the gas tank began sucking air when I opened it. No problem, the mechanic probably hooked the hoses up wrong. I dragged my feet about fixing them until I read Devious2xs post about how hard it is on the fuel pump. Today as I removed the gas tank there was a similar sucking sound. The hoses were hooked up right, they were just pinched. I tried to improve the spaghetti hose mess at the water pump but there's not much room to feed everything. Also, some of the hoses are too short to thread through the half dollar size collector ring under the engine. Could this be a problem or am I making something out of nothing?

No, I did the same thing after the last reassembly. Kinked one of the hoses and was building vacuum in the tank. Luckily I knew what it was the instant I cracked the cap.

I've been contemplating a complete redo of that whole system. Stay tuned for more information. I'll post details IF I ever get around to it. (Note: this will involve color coding, re-routing, and possibly SS braided hose. I'm tired of this crap. Poorly designed.)
Push the hoses around and try rerouting them. It you still have no luck, try using a couple of zipties.

Crash - I doun't know if i would do the braided hose thing. Braided stainless is agressive and cuts into anything it touches.
The braided stainless was a joke. I have better ideas.

Altered for accuracy. ;D

Stay away for Tygon too - it doesn't hold up well to UV.
Your right, they don't all want to fit back in the same place. I posted about this a couple weeks ago after i removed my tank to get to the air filter.

Dev had some good advice. just reroute and zip tie. Just watch out for kinks - got it.
