Just noticed the poor excuse for a battery clamp has snapped on my '05. Don't know how long it's been off but there are marks on the battery and seat were it's been bouncing around.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what you used as a replacement. Other bikes I've had have had a thick rubber strap with metal lugs either end. I'm using some elastic stolen from my wifes sowing kit at the moment but it's not really strong enough.
I suggest you all check your battery clamps as it's only a matter of time before they break.
I might call in to a bike wrecker and see if I can find something suitable.

My strap has had stretch marks since new.
I have made a nylon strap from a cut down tie strap with a friction lock (I use these on race boats all the time), but have yet to put it on.

Simple and cheap. If you check you local bike dealer, you can usually talk them out of tie down straps for FREE when you are buying something. They come in the new bike crates, and the dealers usually throw them all in a box, or toss them in the trash. Just cut it to the correct length, and take a flame to the area you cut - so it doesn't fray.

I have warranty changed new strap, but I still use nylon tie down strap too. it's just tied between the subframe tubes. you can put it so it makes a loop and other loop side goes behind the battery and other over the battery.
