Manual says I should measure 69 pins and see if less than 147.63mm.

2 problems; chain only long enough to measure about 60 pins down one side and 147.63mm is 100's of milimetres too short.

What is the real way to determine if cam chain in spec?

Also says to measure while chain is hanging straight with a 13kg weight on it. I'm no expert on the subject, but I don't see how you could simulate these 2 conditions while chain is inside engine?

Thanks tripee. That thread showed that manual is crap. He just replaced it anyway.
My Trumpy making some horrible rattling noise under load at higher revs.
I've got it pulled apart.

^ I suppose it could be Doc, but having had mine out, it doesn't seem likely. It is such a simple design, I can't really see how it could go wrong.

Tensioner looks ok but I can't find spec for it either. Apparrently if I take spring out and measure it I could compare this to the spec... But I don't know the spec...
