Hey all,

I've got a 2000 speed triple and my tach is all messed up. If I turn my handlebars to the left, the tach looses power. If it's in the middle or to the right, works normally. wierd huh.

I just swapped out the whole instrument cluster and it still does the same thing, so it's not the tach or anything else in the cluster. So any suggestions on where to start looking and what to look for?

Look at your harness. I would put money on there being a worn spot that is grounding to the frame.

finally had a chance to go through the harness. couldn't find anything though. I pulled about the first foot of electrical tape off (starting from the headlight side), i did find a few splices covered in blue tape, don't know if this is a factory thing or not, but they looked good and solid. so pretty much now i just hate electricity very much. I did try and give the harness a llittle more slack near the front, so now It'll only turn off at full left lock, which i guess i can live with. $H!t3333!!!

At least now the power is staying MOST of the time. You have a short or broken wire. Finding it will be the problem.
