on the freeway, 6th gear, 75mph, what's your engine speed (approx.). also, what kind of fuel consumption are you guys getting? i keep feeling that the previous owner changed up the gearing cause i'm getting horrible gas mileage

If I'm not hammering on it I regularly get about 32 MPG by the math. On a long freeway run maybe 37 MPG. If I'm racing or burning up corners, 29 isn't uncommon.
It's been a little better after the header mods and new tune. Barely.
Couldn't tell you what RPM it runs. Just never pay that much attention.

The bike can run with much leaner mixture at part throttle. Just look at the Tiger and Sprint RS maps. For some reson the S3 is originally tuned very rich at part throttle. My Bandit 1200 had more power but drinked much less.

I know I'm at 4000 RPMs at 65MPH in 6th if that helps. (Nice way for me to tell what gear I'm in at 4000 RPM 6th=65, 5th=60, 4th=55) My milage has been a little under 35MPG.
Mileage about right for stock(ish) bike. I am aiming for closer to 50mpg at steady cruise at about 100km/h or 65mph.APtech77 said:
