Of all things...the check valve in the breather hose for the gas tank failed. It took all I had to break the vacuum seal when I hit the gas station. The friggin tank had shrunk about 1/4 inch and popped back out when I opend it. I just took the valve out and stuck the hoses together. Should I replace it, or just leave it out? What is the purpose of it any way?
Mine plugged shortly before my first service. The triumph mechanic just removed it. Its only there to stop gas from leaking out in a tipover. If its gone, only a small amount of gas will leak out anyway. I mean drops.
Short version:
Remove the check valve. You can just remove it from the hose and replace it with a longer hose.
