A percentage of the cost of a track day (average $125 here).

For instance, I am considering the purchase of a handlebar. But it would cost 1/2 track day. The battery I bought ofr the BMW cost nearly a whole track day (the thing is the same as a Gold Wing battery - huge mother), however, it was a must-have.

I have also, however, recently blown 3 1/2 track days on utterly unnecessary but fun stuff for the S3 (which ain't goin' near a track until it's paid off). I justify this by having missed a couple of month's worth of track days because the band has been gigging and, well, I make money when I gig. So, money saved from not going to track days + money made from gigging, I still come out ahead.

At least that's how I explain it to The Redhead.

Unfortunately, she works in a bank. They still use "dollars." She ain't buyin' it.

Right on! I like the way you think, R100 dude. I just signed up for another track day on Speedy (which is paid off, but I still only ride at 95% ::)), and I'm looking at all my other expenses with an eye toward what I can cut out.

For instance, I can save probably 1/3 track day a week by making my lunch instead of buying it...if I sell my road bike (bicycle) since I only ever ride mountain, I can probably get four track days for it real quick...of course, a new set of shoes for the track day costs 2 track days minimum - ain't that ironic?
