I have read that you can do a direct bolt-on swap. Any body know what year(s) GSXR fronts will swap out with no mods?

I used the 2006 Gixer brakes from a 750 - they were nearly new. All 600/750/1000 units are the same for the same model years. I believe you can use any since 2005. I did this right before the fix update was started.

The brakes are much firmer initially, but HiVel's updated stock brakes with the coated cylinders seem to work just fine. I never had issues like some others with the stock early brakes becoming mushy, but I liked the lever to be a bit firmer initially. The stock progressive system MAY actually allow for quicker stopping, but I have not had a chance to confirm or deny this with testing.

Thanks...I did not have an issue with my 06, but my 07 is not good. I thought (according to my VIN#) that my bike had the upgrade, but I'm not sure now...The lever almost touches my fingers sometimes. I only use 2 fingers to break...

Dont think this is quite correct Devi - I believe the 600 & 750 didn't become same as the 1000 until 2006. the 04/05 600/750 is different to the 05/06 1000.

Yes. Decosse is right. When I was fishing on eBay for the brakes I checked the part numbers from local Suzi dealer and the numbers for at least the m/cyl were different between K5 1000 and K5 750. Don't remember what was the deal with the calipers.
