How to paint a helmet?

yes, another painting question. has anyone (or know how to) painted his/her own helmet? I have an arai nicky hayden replica, but it tends to attract bees (at stoplights) and is a bit too loud for my maturing taste. i'd like to paint it matte black with a "S3" on both sides and a lightning bolt on the back.

i know there might be some safety issues, but if the painting isn't too intrusive to the protective structure, then i'd like to give it a go. your thoughts are as always much appreciated.

The Aria's are fibreglass/carbon fibre so you should be fine painting it. Just make sure you mask off the inside properly, block all the vents and use the correct primer.

Or you could sell it and buy a new one in matte black. I think someone might want to pick up the Nicky replica for less than new. Maybe Cheap, to match his jacket...
thanks. i guess i haven't really considered selling it because i have so often been advised not to buy a used helmet (though it has never been dropped or involved in an accident). maybe i'll throw it out there and see if anyone's interested (after i buy a matte black helmet).

Keep it, put it on a shelve on the wall. Nice decoration!

+1. I do the same thing with license plates and helmets.
