ah, yes - an oil thread...
I picked up some Castrol Syn Blend 10w-40 at the local O'Reilly. While synthetics resist heat breakdown better, dino oils still generally provide better lubricity. And if we're changing oil at the recommended 3000 mile interval, most of the high-end full synthetics are overkill (and overpriced...) for the service life it'll see on a street bike.
If I were racing this bike, or spending lots of time in a hot or dusty environment or running at revs consistently close to redline (ie a race environment), I may feel differently, or I might just change the oil twice as often.
Even on our race karts, revving close to 12000 rpm for an hour at a time, we still use regular Castrol GTX 10w-40, and change it every two races.
