Re: Jennings Track Day 6/24 PICS!
Hey y'all - it was HOT!!!
Speedy was the only naked bike out there. Me and my buddy Joel ran intermediate, he on his '00 R6. We stayed on two wheels all day long, running consistently in the five fastest bikes of the group. It was my first time at Jennings GP, but all in all a really nice facility - concrete pit pads, electricity at every pad (the fan was crucial!), showers, and the track is fast, semi-technical, and really good pavement.
Highs: at the end of the day, Joel and I were running low 1:27's, which is really good for intermediates, average for experts. Track record is 1:14.4, set by Geoff May on a Gixxer Thou. I went as fast as I could possibly have gone on an S3 on that day on Pilot Powers - I was laying ******* out of 6 and 11, and felt a couple very real "pushes" going thru turn 8. It didn't freak me out as bad as I thought it would, but I know what they mean when they say "the front end got vague..." Joel couldn't leave me, nor could I leave him - whoever was in front seemed to have the advantage, but I was getting through traffic a little better - I put some time on him if I could get another bike between us.
Lows: I put tires in the dirt three times - on two I just ran wide and dropped off the edge of the pavement. On one I was trying to outbrake a gaggle of riders going into turn one (at the end of 120mph short straight), and got myself caught out - had to stand her up and ride out thru the sand...1/10th of a second too late on the brakes is all it takes sometimes. Second low: i got passed by a Buell. It only happened the once, and the guy was nice enough to tell me where he was reeling me in, so it never happened again. He was smooth, though, riding a Firebolt really well.

In traffic - the guy on the outside here is passing all of us...on the outside!
Low through 13/14
Nice form (finally...it's hard to relax at 100 sometimes) through 9
Sorry you boys missed it!
