well, I was working on a deal with a guy to get a 2002 speed triple. He wanted $5400 for it and wouldn't go down on the price at all. It has 11,500 miles and the 12,000 mile service would put a nice dent in my wallet. Plus I'd have to pay tax, title, and license on top of the $5400. Then it will also need a new chain and sprocket next summer. It's just gonna cost too much money for what I have right now. I've decided to head over to the dealership and pick up the 2005 speed four that they've had there for almost a year. I test drove it last year and liked it quite a bit. Plus since it's still new, I'd get the 2 year warranty with it. Sure, it's nothing like the speedy where I have plenty of punch at 3,000 rpms, but at least it's still a Triumph and I've never seen one on the road before.

The triple almost seems like it has too much power for me right now. I'm only 22 and love speed way too much. I just know that I'd get into a lot of trouble right away with the S3. I know I'm not going to like the riding position on the speed four, but at least it's a bike and I know I'll still have fun. Now that I've sold my Nighthawk 750, I don't have a bike and I'm itching way too bad for a new one! Hopefully if the weather clears up here this week it'll be in the garage by this weekend. I'll still hang around here and be jealous of all you wt your damn triples!

+1 I agree that's just too much money for the 02 S3 with it needing maintenance and all. Enjoy yer S4 for a year or two, then trade up. ;D
Yea, thats what my plan is right now. Heck, maybe even go to the naked 675 next year if it's out. I just hope the dealer will cut me a break when I come in with $5500 in cash.

it's all good, as long as you're riding something.

Yea, I'm 6' and sitting at 200lbs. I was reading some reviews and it looks like I'll have to play with the suspension a little bit. I guess it's already too soft for ppl weighing in at 160lbs.

I could save up cash for a few more months, but I can rarely find any triples in the area of minnesota. I really don't feel like heading out of state to grab the bike. Plus, if I get the speed four it'll make the triple that much sweeter once I finally get it. I also want to head up to the Brainerd International Raceway this summer and take some classes at the track. I would be far more confident on the four compared to the triple at the track. I'm gonna head to the dealer after my new job interview this afternoon and see if putting a wad of cash in front of them will help get the bike out of the door at a good price.

Ug, that speed four has been sitting at the dealership for almost a year. I just saw it on the floor still on saturday. Just called the dealership about it and it sold in the afternoon on saturday. I'm going to go and kill myself now..... I don't think I'm ever going to find a bike that I like.

If you're looking for a cheap bike until you get speedy, I'd go with any year SV650. I had a BLAST on mine (I'm your size as well.) I thought it was a great bike, until the instant I fired up my speed triple. Good thing it only took me a week to sell.

I've been looking at SV650's, they just don't seem like they have very much power. I'll have to go and test drive one and see how I like it first before I judge it though. I just want something that nobody else really haven't. I don't think I've ever seen a triumph on the road before of any model. I just want something different that doesn't follow the croud.

MNrider,

Everything happens for a reason. The speed4 was just not meant to be. +1 on the SV. For the money its a great bike. If I was you I would take it for a ride and see if you like it. If not keep looking, maybe a triple will show up that you can afford..........
