So I'm riding home Friday evening before a long weekend, looking forward to putting in a few miles on Speedy. I'm nearly home, driving up my road, and ALL OF A SUDDEN, I notice my shift foot feels slimy. I look down, and there's oil GUSHING out of the cooler and spraying down the left side of the bike.

I pull into the driveway (luckily I really was that close!) and investigate, only to find a busted seam between the top two cooling cells on the left side of the cooler. F%@K!!!

F%@K!!! As it makes a puddle of hot oil in my driveway.

F%@K!!!!!!

Hopefully, the dealer will honor the warranty (good thru May '07, conveniently) and get me a new one. I don't even want to have to pay for this piece of shit. I tried to get a human on the phone this morning to find out whether I need to truck the bike down there or can I just throw the f%@cking cooler thru their plate glass window, but nobody answered. I'm so goddamn pissed off...

Ironically, I have been spending this week (after the Track Day on Mon.) trying for a max mileage tankful, keeping revs below 6K, short shifting, cruising at 4500 rpm. The bike has never been dropped, and the cooler has never been yanked on - I took it completely off to do my header work! WTF?!?

Even more ironically, I have four quarts of fresh AMSOil and a K&N filter in my truck that I was going to put in TODAY. WTF?!?

God help me.

Don't feel so bad, mine has been pissing oil from the return line since I got the bike new. Dealer said it is bad o-rings and is going to replace them all when I bring it in next week for a return.

Atleast it didn't happen after you put the fresh oil in...
Thanks J-Pip! I needed a chance to see the positive!
As much as that sucks, it could have been a lot worse. You could have been in the middle of nowhere instead of almost home. It could have happened at the track and spoiled your day. It could have oiled down your rear tire in a 100 MPH sweeper. So I would say you had really good bad luck. Still sucks.

So how was the track day?

Buncha damn optimists in here...I was really only ranting 'cuz it soaked down my weekend. In reality, my wife kept me plenty busy.

The track day was AMAZING FUN!!! I put up a report in the Rides section. I've got pics AND video on the way!

MYERS Ducati/Triumph in Asheville NC ROCKS! Service Manager turned in the oil cooler for warranty, and Triumph honored it. He says the cooler's on the way and I should be riding again by the weekend.

This was a used bike when I bought it, and they have treated me like I bought it new and have been a lifetime customer. If you're in the SE and looking for a solid dealer/service center, check them out!

Even though I am from KS, I have experience with Myers in Asheville, and they are good guys. I am actually wearing my shirt from that very dealer right now.
