That looks pretty cool. I seriously considered an SR4S but to tell the truth I like the S3 motor way better. The Ducs have better detailing but I'm just not a V twin fan. It isn't a money thing, before I'm done with Stella I'll have at least as much into here as an SR4S but she'll be unique. That looks very clean, where did you fine it?

I pretty much instantly recognized that image as a photochop (especially considering all the jaggy lines and single rotor/caliper on the front wheel?!? Plus it just looks like ass compared to the current line of Monsters.

Not keen on the Aprilia/MV Brutale headlight or exhaust, either. Also, they left the Hypermotard mirrors on it?

The article said it was a computer rendering. Not the real deal. But the Hypermotard changed little from it's prototype, hopefully this is pretty accurate.
There is quite a leap from prototype pics to the Photochopped hatched jobs MCN publishes every week. MCN is know for being 95% bullshit.

No way is Ducati going to produce anything close to the pic. Very unrefined and not flowing at all, like their other offerings. Looks like the headlamp is just copy-pasted from a Yamaha and the exhaust is a clumsy Pshop excersise.

From the article:
"Ducati is concentrating on air-cooled versions of the Monster, so the current Testastretta-engined S4R is likely to be dropped, and eventually replaced by a sportier machine based on a stripped-naked version of the 1098."

A naked 1098 could be interesting!

Our local Triumph dealer (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) is becoming a Ducati dealer, too. Bikes will be coming in on May 23, and all should be on the floor by May 25.

Next month (June 29 & 30) is the premier of the Hypermotard. This dealer said they may have one in next week, but nobody is supposed to be able to see it until June 29.

If I can, I'll post some pics ;D

I like the Duc style, they went wrong with 999, but made it right with the 1098. I've always liked the Monsters too. I like the frames the simple round headlight, everything.

Kuhlka, it'd be blasphemous to defile a Duc 1098 in sucha way.

I love the monsters but I always feel like it's a woman's bike. Like, anytime I see one at school, the bar, etc. I always expect a Jessica Alba-esque woman in full leathers to come walkin out and get on but right before she leaves she tells me "bice bike, here's my address and a key to my place, race you there". Then she tosses her hair around and puts on her arai and is off, I of course start up speedy and proceed to "rip the lungs outta the duc" and we end up haing hot monkey sex that ends with her throwing me out because we can't agree on which is the better bike, Duc or S3. That's the main reason why i just can't see myself on a Monster, I mean how weird would it be if the girl walks out and we're on the exact same bike ???

How weird? Most of the women I've seen on ducs are on the small 600ish cc versions and if anything, the female duc rider would be impressed that you've got the money and style to ride a duc. Otherwise, they'd probably assume you're a poser just shopping for nang and outride you as she takes off.

Hell, my wife is getting into racing. She'll probably outride a LOT of guys by the time she's 30.

Oh, and there is this tiny asian chick in DFWSBR who has only been riding for a few months but she can hang in the middle of the pack on sunday rides without major problems. I am seriously impressed by her.

Chick bike or not, the aircooled duc's are pricey for what you get. Monster 1098, now were taking. Still wouldn't get one, by then Triumph will have pumped up the S3 to kick it's ass.

Maybe that's because that's what it is? The aircooled Monsters have ergos for women, no real power, and most of the EU Monster riders are girls.

That of course goes only for the aircooled variety. The S4R and S4RS and fun bikes, but way too pricey for what you get for you money.

Interesting to see what the Duc factory cooks up for their new 1098 based naked. They will be making a move to that direction soon, as the basic Monster sales are dropping and the Monster has been their bread and butter saleswise.

I'd be hard pressed to decide between a new Big Daytona/S3 or a 1098/1199 Monster. Then again, I could just say eff it all and get a graphite 675 in a few years as my stripped and strapped hooligan bike.
