How hard is it to change out the brake pads? Are any specialized tools needed?

It's actually almost as simple as changing your oil, I just did mine and it feels like a new bike check out my tight brakes thread, but all you need is one tool I forgot what size and that's it, prolly take you 5 mins at most.

You have to remove the calipers, right? Can you give me a quick step by step?

So, how is it done??? Or will it be self explanatory when I get started?

It's self explanatory, but in my experience it's easier to pull the calipers. Just make sure you torque everything to spec, and don't forget the cotter pin on the brake pin, if the newer bikes still use one.

I had a white 06 and some azzwipe in a big Lexus took us both out with an illegal uturn on a 2 lane road across a double yellow. That was back in October. I just had surgery 3 weeks ago to finish up the repairs to the right knee. I'm doing well and gonna' ride all day tomorrow!

WOO HOO! What a good day! I did about 375 miles. It was a little cold in the mountains, but well worth it.
