A noble effort!

Lot's of things I'd do different, but we all have different ideas about things.

That tank rocks! Might be next on my list of things I can't afford.

Really? you guys don't like it? I think it's kinda cool, kind of an amalgamation of old and new. A bit of retro styling on a modern bike. It sorta reminds me of the new Mustang.

I think the big turn-off Smash is the gold frame.

If it were me I'd stick with a black frame and polish the engine. Then it would look more like the old café racers it's trying to emulate. Also, the Zard has got to go. It looks too modern, even though it's the right style/shape. A plain chrome megaphone or reverse cone would be better.

I'd like to see someone stuff a 955i or 1050 engine into an old Norton featherbed chassis. Wouldn't THAT be cool! A modern Triton!

One of the reasons I bought the 1050 was the simple lines of the tank and stock wheels.

I like the retro look on this bike, but the colors don't do it for me.... at all.

Crash - GREAT idea!

Sumpin' like this:

Of course it would have to have twin leading shoe front brakes and twin rear shocks...
And a kickstart.  ;D

I didn't say it had to work!

On an EFI bike it would be redundant anyway. Unless you planned on removing all the electronics, replacing them with a 3 cylinder magneto, and adding 3 Amal side drafts just for effect.

I don't think so. At least I think I don't think so. Hmmm.

And yeah, I have kick started a 10.5/1 bike and I didn't like that very much. And it didn't have all the auxillary crap on it like the Triumph does: ballance shafts, water pump, twin cams, huge clutch basket etc. It could only sux like a moderator at 12/1.

I think I like the idea of an S3 with a single headlamp and clip-ons. That might be what mine ends up looking like one day - then I'd want a polished aluminium tank and single seat, then I'd want different rearsets and down for up shift pattern, megaphone pipe, then ........................bugger, when does it stop?
The only problem with all this stuff is time spent doing it takes away from time riding - and I have little enough of that as it is.
Maybe I just need a Thruxton.............
Cheers
