I got on it with an open mind but I was not impressed at all. Vibrates like a Harley and the power is hard to find, or should I say in a completely different place than speedy, like in the engine. ahaha
I test rode one the other day and it wasn't bad. The steering was a lot sharper, brakes were instant-on and way touchy, and the power was definitely different but no less than an S3. Would I trade my 955i for it? No. That test ride clinched the 1098 decision.
So limey, does the S3 smoke quack? Or was the S4Rs an alright ride? I didn't really have a good/bad opinion of it other than it was 'different' in many ways than my Speed Triple.
I like the Monster. It was on my short list when I bought Speedy. More power, more usable power, better 'street' feel, 1/3 less cost - that's what sold me on the Triumph.
I know people who are sold on Ducati, but it goes down to, "do you prefer twins or multiples?" I don't like the Aprilia or KTM as much as the Triumph for the same reason - too 'twinny'
