Plastic spring loaded fuel connector on the gas tank

Looks like I might have cracked the plastic fuel line connector. The connector that mounts to the gas tank itself. The bottom one is seated nice and tight, but the top one is really loose and gasoline comes gushing out. I wish these parts were made better.
I might have to get a new fuel connector. Plumber's tape might be a good idea as I am installing a new one....

Weren't the plastic fuel connectors a recall item?

Common misconception - the MALE plastic barb connectors on the hoses were the item of recall - the female ones on the fuel pump assembly were not.

If the fitting is leaking when the male is plugged in, yes it could be cracked or it could just be the o'ring on the male fitting. You cna replace the o'ring on the male fitting.
If the female leaks when the male is removed, then most like the o'ring on that item on the spring seal - that one is not servicable unforntunately
