New to me, 2007, VIN 294xxx, 6k mi, all original, no services performed. I RTFM and it calls for CR9EK. Changed the plugs today and pulled CR8EK's out. Any thoughts?

same thing.. :) advanced auto part found on their system that 9EK is the correct fit for my 07 bike.. but old plugs were 8EK. I guess it's non issue.. I researched on here and found that 8EK runs hotter.. and that's pretty much all the difference.. I guess you should be fine.. I would've told you my first hand experience but my bike is not even starting for some other reason.. or at least that's what I think!!. lol :)

9EK is the factory plug. The 8EK is, as Jaysin says, slightly hotter. It will tend to foul less, although this bike isn't prone to fouling to begin with. "Hotter" does not mean a hotter spark, but rather the electrode has less insulation on it so the plug itself maintains a higher temperature. This has advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is they plug tends to wear faster and there's a higher chance of preignition due to hot spots on the plug. The advantage is less carbon on the electrode and therefore a more reliable spark.

That said, this engine doesn't really have any of these problems. Either plug will work well.

My factory manual says the factory plug is a NGK CR9EK clear as day. Perhaps later bikes were updated with the hotter plug? My manual is for a 2005.

... oh, and by the way, the only thing I know for sure is my hand is going to get laid tonight.

Curiously, my Street Triple manual also indicates CR9EK. Not that this makes any difference to anybody else here.

I don't think you guys understand. Think of something that is brown. Therefore, several of them would be browns. Then think of a bowl that browns go into, but hopefully never come back out. taking the browns to the super bowl has nothing to do with football, money, or the fact that I'm actually a Steelers fan.

Around here we refer to toilet paper as "Mountain Money." "Stupid money" is for when you run out of "Mountain Money" and have to wipe your ass with a dollar bill. Or sometimes the lower third of your t-shirt.

What's the difference? Wipe your ass with a dollar or bet it on Cleveland?

You probably could, but the strippers would never perform for you again. And what about the cocaine?

Naw, I'll just soil my undies thanks.
